Good Afternoon!

We have had so much fun this week in class 1! The children have loved every second of their English lessons. But I think the highlight was Tuesday when they made their jam sandwiches as part of their instruction writing unit:

Maths

In our maths lessons this week the children have spent time developing their subtraction skills. they have subtracted by crossing out, subtracted using ten frames and subtracted using a number line. Next week, we will complete our end of unit assessment. We will then commence our new unit; Shape.

English

In English this week the children have explored written instructions, made jam sandwiches, given verbal instructions learnt about imperative verbs (bossy verbs). Next week the children will write their own instructions and then commence their new unit.

n your child’s book bag I have popped in a copy of this week’s spelling list. Additionally, I have assigned a game on the PurpleMash platform (login details can be found in your child’s reading log). You can also see a copy of this week’s spellings below:

Reading

Please ensure that you complete a minimum of 3 reads.

RWI Home learning:

Practice your  story green words and red words from your home reading book on a piece of paper at home. These can be found on the How to help your child read this book page.

Challenge: Can you use the words in sentences?

Maths

In maths the children have been working really hard on their subtraction skills to support their on going development it would be beneficial for the children to continue to practice subtraction within 10 before we move onto subtraction within 20 after Christmas, therefore I have found a couple of online games that will help them:

Have a great weekend!
