Good Afternoon!
I cannot believe that we are on the last Friday in November, it only feels like yesterday that we were welcoming the children back for the start of the school year. With only three weeks left of the term, I am sure things are going to get very busy. Please do keep an eye on the school diary and newsletter for upcoming events. Next week the children in Class 1 will be taking part in a Christmas themed doodle session with a local artist. We will continue to practice for the school play (thank you to those who have sent in costumes – if you are unsure about your child’s costume please do speak to me), you are in for a treat.
The week commencing 9th December will see us start DT week (although it is likely to span 2 weeks – due to festive events). For DT week please ensure that you send your child to school with:
2L fizzy drinks bottle
Toothpaste cardboard box
Cereal box.
We would also be grateful for any cardboard boxes.
In English this week the children have started a new unit on setting descriptions. They have spent time creating words banks and writing sentences describing a river and waterfall from the book; The Squirrels who squabbled.
In maths the children finished off their addition and subtraction unit with a bang, they absolutely smashed their assessment (very proud!). We have started our shape unit which the children are enjoying greatly.
In your child’s book bag I have popped in a copy of this week’s spelling list. Additionally, I have assigned a game on the PurpleMash platform (login details can be found in your child’s reading log). You can also see a copy of this week’s spellings below:

This week I have a game called Shape Escape to help the children learn the names of 3D shapes and practice their knowledge of 2D shapes.
