Good Afternoon Class 1,
I hope I find you well on this lovely spring afternoon, the sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and the rain (for a surprise) is not pouring!
This afternoon in class 1, we made the most of the nice weather and went on a leaf hunt as part of our Science unit. We collected a range of different leaves and then observed them closely using magnifying glasses.
In maths the children continued their unit on multiplication and division. We identified equal groups, added equal groups, practiced our doubling skills and made arrays to help with multiplication and division problems.
English
I cannot believe how much the children have enjoyed the start of our Sleeping Beauty unit. I thought they may be a little disappointed to be starting a new book after the fun we had with Dougal’s Deep Sea Diary. However, the children loved sequencing the story and writing setting descriptions linked to the book.
RWI Home learning:
Practice your story green words and red words from your home reading book on a piece of paper at home. These can be found on the How to help your child read this book page.
Challenge: Can you use the words in sentences?
Maths
In Maths we have spent time practicing our doubling skills. The children really enjoyed using the game below therefore I thought they could have another go at home.
To find the game, the children should click on doubles and then choose one of the games at the top of the left-hand side of the screen. The easiest game is at the top, I would focus on the top 3 games only.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
