Homework 26th November

Good Afternoon Class 1!

After a very busy week practicing for our amazing Christmas Play, writing about the pirates next door, learning about the Good Samaritan and continuing with our tricky work on addition; I’m sure that you are all ready for a well deserved break over the weekend.

For your homework I would like you to:

Task 1:

Continue to practise your lines for the play (parents and adults at home you are in for a treat! The children have been fabulous in their rehearsals). It might be helpful if your adult at home could read the line before yours so that you are 100% ready to say your piece.

Task 2:

I have set a 2do on Purple Mash that links to the phonics work that we have been completing in class this week (the children might need a couple of prompts as they choose the letters).

Task 3:

I have also set a spelling game on Purple Mash too.

Homework 12th November

Good Evening Class 1,

I hope you have all had a lovely afternoon practising the play with Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Platten.

This week for your homework I would like you to continue to practise your lines for the play (task 1).

As well as practising your lines I have popped a phonics activity onto Seesaw too for you to complete (it’s a very fun treasure hunt that that whole family can join in with!) (task 2).

Homework 5.11.2021

Good Evening Class 1!

I hope I find you all well? What a wonderful first week back after the half-term break! We have had a wonderful week exploring bonfire night, finishing off our Kenyan huts, part-whole models in maths, exploring difference in RE and dare I say it…starting rehearsals for the Christmas production!

This week for our homework, I would like the children to initially access Purple Mash to play the spelling game that I have set as a 2do. We will not be testing the children in school I would just like the children to practice their spellings. You may wish to encourage the children to use the words from the game in conversations with you and then practice writing the words down and then in sentences, should you wish to push them a little further.

Secondly, I would like the children to practice using part-whole models (set as a 2do on Purple Mash). You may need to support the children in clicking on the pop up screen, although we have used Purple Mash alot in school and they are very good at using it!

Finally, in phonics this week we have introduced the children to ou and ay. I have set a further game on Purple Mash for the children to have a go at, please encourage the children to sound out the phoneme grapheme correspondence to decode the word, before submitting their answers.

Summary:

Spelling Game on Purple Mash.

Part-Whole Models on Purple Mash.

Phonics Game

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend (remember your homework is not due in until next Friday).

Take care

Mr Mallison

Homework 8.10.21

Good Afternoon Class 1,

Congratulations on such an amazing week of learning!

My personal highlights include our trip to the IT suite (we are slowly becoming IT experts), our wonderful ocean crafting and your superb acting in English. Also our recorded guided reading predictions were pretty impressive too!

I can’t wait for Sam’s Safari in the morning too! I’m sure that it’s going to be lots and lots of fun!

I have posted two activities onto Seesaw for your homework this week.

Task 1: Comparing numbers using < = > .

Task 2: Capital letters and full stops.

Homework 1.10.21

Good Afternoon Class 1,

I hope you are all ready for a nice relaxing weekend following a very bust week at school.

This week for your homework I would like you to practise some of the skills that we have been learning on Purple Mash this week (Parents – I have glued a copy of the log on details into the front of your child’s reading log. If your child did not have a reading log in school today I have popped a slip in their book bag)

When you log into Purple Mash I have set you a 2DO ( a little task on Purple Mash) to create the South African Flag. Using the Paint Projects App.

After you have finished creating your flag I have set you a 2Do to practice using the key board.

Remember, you don’t have to send me your homework until next Friday, so don’t worry if you are busy at the weekend. If you have any problems with Purple Mash, please speak to me on Monday and I’ll try to get you sorted out.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Mallison

Homework 24.9.21

Good Morning Class 1!

I am so impressed with all of the suitcases that have been brought into school! They were perfect for our trip to Africa yesterday! I have enjoyed looking at all of them.

Your homework for this week is based upon our maths lesson yesterday and our IT lessons.

Note: homework sheets will be placed into your book bags this week. We are still waiting on a few permissions for access to Seesaw, once we have confirmation on this I will send out login details.

For Maths I would like you to complete the One More Than Activity sheet:

For your IT homework, I would like you to practise typing your name using the image of a key board that I have popped in your book bags.

Practicing typing your name will help you to learn how to log onto our computers. Parents: If you have a computer at home or a tablet, it would be beneficial for the children to practice typing their names into a word processing document or similar.

Have a great weekend!

Mr Mallison

Home Reading Logs

Good Evening,

Tomorrow afternoon, I will be placing new reading books (as chosen by Mrs Atkinson!) and logs into your child’s book bag. As with the homework, if you could ensure that your child’s book and reading log is returned to school on Friday 24th September. If you return the book earlier in the week, one of the team will endeavour to change the book, however this cannot always be guaranteed.

Take care

Mr Mallison

Homework Week Commencing 13.9.21

Good Evening Class 1 Parents and Carers,

I hope I find you all well this evening?

After a very busy first part week back and an equally busy second week back at school; (and now that the children are all settled back in) I feel it a suitable time to issue the first piece of homework.

Nothing too taxing (I hope!). Yet what I feel will be a fun and creative task for the children.

As you are aware this term our theme is Wild Adventure and we will be learning all about Africa. Therefore, this week I would like the children to create a suitcase for our journey to Africa that we could display in class. Please see the details below:

Hand in date: Friday 24th September

Good luck! I can’t wait to see your creations.

Summer Learning Pack

Summer learning packs have been set to support children in continuing to read and practise key maths and writing skills over the holidays. There are also ideas linked to our theme next term and outdoor exploration.

The activities are not compulsory as we know that there are many ‘fun’ ways to incorporate reading, writing and maths into the holiday period – from calculating scores in games to following instructions in recipes!!

So please just enjoy your holidays and use the ideas when needed.

In light of today’s school closure, you may wish to use some of the ideas for home learning.

Have a wonderful summer!

Well we made it and what a fantastic time we have had!
You have all kept us smiling and kept us going and we have had so much fun with all of you. We are very proud of what you have achieved and how hard you have worked, you are all shining stars!

We hope you have a wonderful summer and we will see you when you come back as grown up Year 2s!
